Megan Shutzer is a documentary filmmaker and development consultant based in San Francisco, California. Her most recent film, New Generation Queens: a Zanzibar soccer story follows Zanzibar’s women’s soccer team as they compete in a national tournament on the mainland of Tanzania, and battle opposition to women’s soccer at home. New Generation Queens premiered at the Manhattan Film Festival in June 2015 where it won Best International Documentary. The film also won Best Picture at the 2016 Global Cinema Film Festival and was recognized as the Best Documentary at the FilmShift Film Festival. Outside of film, Megan works for Dalberg Global Development Advisors, where she acts as a strategy advisor on international development projects. She has a BA from Harvard, where she played JV soccer, and a Masters in International Policy Studies from Stanford.
